Kingdom Culture: Disciple. Act. Care. Share.
As Christians, we gather together in church. We aim to be like the disciples, who devoted themselves “to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers” (Acts 2:42 ESV). But do we really accomplish that?

When you think of your church, how would you describe it? What are your church’s core values? How do people act and interact with one another? In other words, what is the culture of your church?

Culture is defined as the set of values, beliefs, practices and use of language a group has. Being aware of our church culture is vital, because “simply understanding the concept of culture, and its impact, reveals our potential for bringing a lasting and healthy influence to the world around us” (Dann Farrelly).[1]

If we are honest, our churches don’t always reflect a healthy culture. Instead of connection, love, fellowship, kindness, forgiveness and other-centeredness, we find division, selfishness, dishonesty, resentment, gossip and self-centeredness.

Jesus spoke about the kingdom of God on numerous occasions. The ESV translation mentions the word kingdom 126 times in the gospels. “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matthew 4:17 ESV). Our desire should be for the Kingdom of God (and its values or “culture”) to fully reign in our lives and in the world, as the Lord’s Prayer instructs, “Your kingdom come” (Matthew 6:10 ESV).

As leaders in our church, how can we contribute to creating (or maintaining) a kingdom culture at our church or youth group? That is what PulseMeet* 2024 is all about, under the theme Kingdom Culture: Disciple. Act. Care. Share.

If you want your youth group and church to breathe the culture of heaven, this is the event for you. If you want to connect with others and gain from their experience on how to live in the kingdom of God, this is the event for you.

Join us as we pray and live, “Your kingdom come.”

Religious Abuse: Background and Consequences

Petko Bonev - Workshop: Religious Abuse: Background and Consequences
Thu., 22 Feb / 10:45 - 12:00
Room: Forum 7 // Capacity: 30
We live in a deeply divided and polarized world—politically, socially and religiously. It is becoming more and more difficult to shed light on spiritual issues objectively and to discuss different positions in the community transparently and fairly. A black and white religious world offers security and clear answers at first sight, but at the same time it can be fertile ground for abuse and manipulation. This workshop shows different mechanisms of religious abuse and encourages young people to think for themselves as well as to make responsible faith decisions.

SafePoint is a new project of the Adventist Church located in Prague, one of the most secular cities in Europe. It originated from gatherings of people who connected through social media, such as TikTok, with a desire to learn more about Jesus. The experience of God's calling, resulting from a discipleship process in a community-oriented format, presents a model for a functioning and vibrant Christian community full of young people, often with no prior church affiliation. In this workshop, we will reflect on how an ordinary online follower can become a true follower of Jesus.

When we think about conflicts we usually look at ways to help people resolve their differences, through listening, talking, mediation and negotiation.
However, there are some simple things that we can do to lower the incidence of conflict in our relationships. So we can start there and find ways to build healthier relationships where conflicts are less likely to happen, and when they do, they are easier to resolve.

ACCOMMODATION

Shared room

Please note: Since we need all available space and beds, participants are generally accommodated in shared rooms. Most of the shared rooms have a sanitary block (toilet, shower) in the room. Some have shower and toilets on the landing.

In cooperation with your Union Youth Department we will try to find the best possible accommodation for you. However, this means that you will have to share the room with people you may know or you may get to know!

Aditional accommodation

If the number of participants exceeds the number of beds available at the Congress Center Schonblick we have additional accommodation options in some nearby hotels at a special rate. This rate applies only to bookings made by the Convention Administration and only if all space available at Schonblick is covered.

Please note: If you want to book a hotel room in a nearby hotel yourself, you have to do this at your own expense and you also need to organize your transportation to the Convention Center yourself.

Self-organized accommodation does not reduce the Congress Fee! The Standard Congress Fee is already a reduced price. It is also in our interest - if possible - that all participants are right at the venue and share their time with others.

14:45 - 19:30
Arrival - Registration
20:00 - 21:30
Plenary Session 1
Kingdom Culture

What is the Kingdom of God? The Gospel of Matthew has five discourses in which Jesus teaches us about the Kingdom. Many see the Kingdom Manifesto in the Beatitudes; they study them to understand it. Are they a path of individual growth? The description of a standard of holiness? A strategy for the church?

Scripture cannot be limited and lends itself to many insights. Every believer hopes for a better world, the church tries to motivate young people to fight for the actualization of the Kingdom. But Jesus points our eyes to the real life with which we have to deal, in order to understand who we are and what to do.

Many teens and young people may not feel at ease in their world, in their church; they are aware of the swirling forces that try to dominate the events of their life. But they can embrace the different and contrary force of the Kingdom of God and discover that, when they surrender to this force, a journey of passion and blessed resilience begins.
